Art, Craft and Design

Our Art, Craft and Design curriculum aims to be fully inclusive to every pupil.  We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, to ensure the progressive development of knowledge and skills.  This is broken down into four different areas.

  • Responding to a range of different artists, craftspeople and designers
  • Observing and recording using a range of different media and tools
  • Developing practical skills using the visual elements of line, tone, colour, pattern, texture, space
  • Evaluating their own and others’ work using art specific language

.

A project based approach is used for all students and that involves all of the four areas.  At GCSE level, every pupil will work on an individual theme and cover the four areas for the Excel examining board using artists and research to start their project.
